Rosh Hashanah 5775.

As the shofar is sounded during our prayers on the two days of Rosh Hashanah we will be reciting the following time-hallowed supplications.

From our Machzor.

היום הרת עולם

Today is the birthday of the world;
on this day
He calls all the created beings of the worlds
to stand in judgment.
Are we regarded as children
or as servants?
If as children,
have mercy upon us
as a father has mercy upon his children;
if as servants,
our eyes are turned to You
until You will be gracious to us
and bring forth our judgment as the light,
O Awesome and Holy One.

ארשת שפתינו
May the utterance of our lips
be pleasing before You,
sublime and exalted G-d,
Who understands and hears,
perceives and hearkens
to the sound of our shofar blast,
and accept with mercy
and favor
our recitation
of the spiritual verses
of kingship,
remembrance
and
shofrot.
